Uncontrolled Weakness

~As you can see in this photograph, cream puffs are my “uncontrolled weaknesses.” No joke, I promise. Btw, this photo isn’t mine.

Judges 16:1-24

The book of Judges tells of a man named Samson, who was so strong he could kill a lion with his bare hands (14:5-6). He possessed physical strength unequaled by any human being. But this could not compensate for his inner weakness.

All of us have areas of weakness. God wants these character flaws to show us how totally dependent we are upon Him. When we handle them properly, they drive us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with the Lord. But uncontrolled weakness wreaks havoc in a person’s life.

Samson’s Achilles’ heel was uncontrollable lust. Although he was raised in a godly home and had a clear calling in life, he gave in to his desires and deliberately violated the truth he knew so well. Despite Nazirite laws forbidding involvement with foreign women, Samson pursued a harlot in Gaza (16:1). Later, he met a woman named Delilah, and even though her motives were blatantly treacherous, he gave himself over—heart, mind, and spirit—to sexual indulgence. He was in such bondage to the sin that he ultimately allowed it to dictate his actions, even at the cost of his life.

Before he died, Samson lost everything: his strength, eyesight, and honor. The man who once led his country mightily became a slave to his enemies (vv. 18-25).

What is your weakness? Is it lust, insecurity, fear, greed, gossip, or pride? Personality flaws can be a powerful motivation for good or ill, depending on our response. A proclivity for sin can ruin your life—as it did Samson’s—or drive you to utter dependence on God. The outcome is up to you.

Stolen Hopes

Gladiolus flower1

What would it take for you to believe?

That the Lord your God is alive

Doubts and sadness linger in your heart

Won’t you let the God of the universe repair your brokenness?

Jesus never promised a happy-go-lucky lifestyle

Deep down inside, you’re still angry at Him for hurting you

You can blame everyone and everything but yourself

But I know, that deep down, you want to set free

What’s robbing you of your joy?

Is hope something that is aloof to you?

One day you say, you’ll live again and things will change

But only to find out, you never took a step to change

My dear, dear child of God

The Father in Heaven longs to hold you in His arms

He yearns to talk and listen to you when you’re down and out

Won’t you let yourself hope and let Him in your heart while you’re still alive

A little more joy,                                                                                                                          a little less stress,                                                                                                                                          a lot more recognition of                                                                                                    your wonderfulness.                                                                                                     Abundance in your life,                                                                                                blessings in your days,                                                                                                             dreams that come true,                                                                                                                            and hopes that stay.                                                                                                                  A rainbow on the horizon,                                                                                                          an angel by your side…                                                                                                         and everything                                                                                                                          that could ever bring                                                                                                                                a smile to your life.

by Mia Evans 🙂

Happy Monday everyone! May this poem encourage you like it did me. 🙂

Where are you today?

My God is not dead, He’s alive and well                                                                                His eyes are roaming everywhere, He sees it all                                                                    Is God more-than-enough for you?

At the end of the day, when you lay your head to sleep at night, do you think of Him?                            Is He your strength when you are weak and is He the song to your life story?

Are you too busy for Him?                                                                                                   Are you afraid of Him?                                                                                                                So you’re not ready to give up your lifestyle?                                                                           Or, is it, that you just don’t believe

Maybe you need a heart check.                                                                                          Maybe an MRI to your soul even.

Don’t wait too long, now is the time to invest in your eternal destination. There’s life after death you know . Did you forget that?

~Happy Friday friends. I was listening to ‘God’s Not Dead’ by Newsboys and this poem/questions is the result. Thank your for reading this blog. And please, take the time to honestly answer these questions for yourself. It will only benefit your soul. 🙂

My Crossroad

There’s no way around this crossroad                                                                                 Cross it or not?                                                                                                                      Walk away, or pursue it?

But I’m not enough                                                                                                                  I am not strong enough                                                                                                           I am not resilient enough                                                                                                       Or humble enough

…but Christ in me was enough

But I don’t want to get hurt again

…but Christ says, “My strength is enough.”

And so, I crossed the road 🙂

Focus, Focus, Focus

picture is not mine.

Our focus determines our directions

Do you believe that?

Where your mind wanders, that’s where your heart is tied to

Do you get this?

Your eyes perceives everything, keep it clean

Can you believe that?

Fixing your eyes on your problems, or just looking at the wall and doing nothing about it. Well, that’s not going to work.

Have you found a solution yet?

Dwelling on the past, and all you feel is unjust and anger strikes at your heart

Do you know what I mean?

It’s the same misconception, same-o, same-o

Are you tired, do you want to change?

Want to stick to your New Year Resolution? What “walls” in your life have you been looking at? What can you do to remind yourself to keep your eyes on Christ? What word would help you maintain focus?

Psalm 105:4, “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.”

Romans 8:5, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”

Focus, focus, focus. 🙂

~picture is not mine.

Humanity has its own reality to face

I’m troubled by this thought, of the human race

Wickedness is evident, for those who are vile

I only pray that my heart can withstand, the ugliness that I will witness for miles

Help me Lord to extend compassion to those who hurt me

Soften my heart to love all these haters, even if my heart gets trampled for all to see

It’s a new year and I want to be as honest and truthful as I can on my blog. Thank you again for those who are following me. I hope that my poems and stories will encourage at least person before this year is over. Happy New Year Everyone!
